What *is* going on in Cincinnati this year? Was there any reason to
think that Scott Hatteberg would be a more productive hitter than
Todd Helton (for example), let alone all the other Reds who appear
&quot;above trend line&quot;? Or are we simply observing a coincidence of
events that's more dramatic than improbable?

Hatteberg actually *did* hit better than Cecil Fielder in '97 and '98.
Somehow that amuses me.
