The negro bodily secretions are differant from Whites. Dogs will focus
on this difference. Police trainers will whack K-9 dogs with clothing
from negro's as a training method knowing that a majority of suspects,
at least in big cities, will be negroes.

Outta curiosity, and I'm not posting a political opinion either way,
but does misc.fitness.weights double as a White Nationalist
organization? I ask this out of curiosity because I see just as many
race-related posts as I do weightlifting related posts.

In my humble opinion, the best movie that has ever been made was
"Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". It had everything that's ever made
a movie great: an interesting, exciting lead character, snappy and
memorable dialogue, a convincing plot and treacherous villains.

What's your pick?

Haven't seen many movies, have you? Sure, LAST CRUSADE is a good,
entertaining movie and very well made, but that doesn't equal "best."
It might be your "favorite," but just 'cause you LIKE something doesn't
make it great. A lot of people's favorites are pieces of garbage, but
they have reasons for liking them. Fine, but don't call them great or
even good movies. Take a film class with a good teacher, if you want to
understand the distinction.

Have you never seen a black-and-white movie? Or one directed by Orson
Welles, John Ford, Charlie Chaplin, Frank Capra, Billy Wilder, William
Wyler, Fritz Lang, Howard Hawks, Alfred Hitchcock, Akira Kurosawa,
Yasujiro Ozu, Kenji Mizoguchi, Jean Renoir, or Francois Truffaut, to
name a few directors of movies that might be called "best." Or even
Martin Scorsese, to name a still-working director who might one day
join the pantheon.

This may sound snobbish to some, but that's not my intent. For me, the
issue is that cinema is an art form, and not simply a noise-and-images
machine to keep you from being bored. Every shot in a great movie
should take you to another place, show you a world, a new sensibility,
lets you experience and understand something you haven't previously
experienced or understood. That's art. And it's usually involving and
engaging in a way that goes beyond mere entertainment. Do I like action
and kung fu films? Yes. I'm a big fan of John Woo's Hong Kong action
thrillers like THE KILLER and HARD-BOILED, but I don't consider them
art. Sam Peckinpah's equally violent THE WILD BUNCH is a work of art,
because it takes you into the characters' heads and reveals all their
flaws and shows you how they experience the world and why they're
doomed to fail. You feel some extreme cultural shifts at work in the
film. You're entertained and excited, but you also learn something and
feel something you hadn't previously felt. It's a new and enriching
experience as well as being a great shoot-em-up. That's a great movie.
And it's the kind of movie my friends and I went to see when we were in
high school. A movie like PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, done in the style
of the time, would have been dismissed and ignored.

Trashy movies have their place and I'm not down on them, it's just that
I tend to prefer them when they're low budget (think PLAN 9 FROM OUTER
SPACE), not when they cost hundreds of millions of dollars (you name
it).

It pretty much has to be "to date" since time travel isn't possible--yet--to
tell grade future movies.

[Snark mode off]

Puhlease, STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK flew circles around Indy
(circles almost 12 parsecs in diameter).

SW:TESB, THE MATRIX, THE LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy, even THE FUGITIVE gives
LAST CRUSADE a good run for its money. Certainly BLADE RUNNER was better.

Nah. I'm pretty sure RSPW's influence on pop-culture is nil.
Pop-culture sucks for very different reasons.

Well I don't know if there's a difference between "best" and
"favorite".Best is probably citizen Kane (widely recognized as
such),where as my favorite is Pulp Fiction.Love the dialogue.

"Let It Ride", starring Richard Dreyfus and Jennifer Tilly, is a better
movie. In fact, I'm changing my vote from "Joe Versus the Volcano" to
"Let It Ride" as the greatest movie of all time, bar none, even "Citizen

Kane is the best film ever made. Period. But Ebert and Siskel said
there's no question they were asked duller than what their favorite
films were, so the answer they gave was Citizen Kane. It's a boring
answer to a boring question and it kills the conversation.

But I think Robert Aldrich's Kiss Me Deadly might be just as good.

And Welles productivity was awful (died the same age as Kubrick with as
many feature length films but their careers progressed on opposite
trajectories) but he never declined as an artist, so Magnificent
Ambersons, Touch of Evil and Chimes at Midnight are also solid best
ever contenders and F for Fake has its champions too (Penn Gilette said
he liked it more than Kane because it was "wackier".)

>Puhlease, STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK flew circles around Indy

>
>SW:TESB, THE MATRIX, THE LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy, even THE FUGITIVE gives
>LAST CRUSADE a good run for its money. Certainly BLADE RUNNER was better.

I'm not sure what I would call the best movie of all time. The ones
listed above are all good, but I would probably go for "The Great
Escape". Though "The Bridge on the River Kwai" comes close. The cast
in "The Great Escape" was just one of the best casts ever, and they
all did a marvelous job at creating a unique set of characters.

I probably am not qualified to do 'best' movie, so I have to settle for
'favorite'.

Jaws is my favorite - saw it nine times in the theater, then a whole lot more
by tape and TV.

Is that a joke? IJ_LC is a fun adventure film, but hardly great. And
while some women might enjoy it, I think the majority would label it a
kid or teen film & boycott it completely. Expose yourself to some more
cinema and then you'll see the *truly* great movies.

..

GONE WITH THE WIND.

- Beautiful cinematography (different tints are used for different
moods).
- War/destruction to appeal to the men.
- Romance/love to appeal to the women (also a strong leading lady).
- Epic scale.
