LOL. Oh, you're serious?? Sorry.

One shit half ffs. A monumental shit half mind you and one that had to
happen if you ask me, but hopefully now Jake will have a good hard look at
himself and give his players a hand. It's hard to blame the men on the pitch
because they can only give their best, and if it isn't good enough then the
coach has to replace them.

The Boks must stop living on the back of the 3N win two years ago.

>

Sure there are players missing. Burger and Botha are a huge loss for
example. But his decision making recently has been erratic and nothing short
of curious. Continuity of selection only seems to apply to those who have
lost form for example. Jaco is woefully out of form and has had a shocker
today. but Bosman, who he brought through last year is out of the picture
and only called up as an afterthought. He wasn't part of the original squad
but hopefully he'll get some game time before his confidence goes.

And Solly, after a nightmare S14 campaign and a big dip in form, is
preferred to the form player in Watson, but van Niekerk gets the no 6 jersey
after playing so well at 8, and Spies is called to play no 8 for the first
time since school.

Chilliboy is called up to the squad, but Gary Botha is the man in form at
national level. Pienaar is a huge talent but Du Preez has been out of form
and looks to be a spent force.

Man, I'm not being an armchair expert, but an explanation would be nice
because Jake has some explaining to do. But instead he cocks a snoot at the
country and says he's doing it his way. It's hard to support him and he's
lost a lot of support even before today's display.

It's 42-0 at the moment and I'd like to know what his thinking was. It's not
much to ask.

Make that two shit halves. Truely the most disgraceful performance I've
ever seen in the tri-nations. Absolutly smashed by a team that doesn't
even have a front row.

The boers better pull their socks up otherwise I'll start to wonder if
the Argentians should be in the 3N instead. On this performance, they
are going to get smashed again next weekend.

For sure it isn't. Good luck getting the answers.

Seemed to be somewhat of an attitude problem tonight as the Bok defence was
just woeful.
To be honest I am embarresed for the Boks I dont think I have ever seen them
play that bad.
Jaco was poor and Spies looked a bit out of his depth. All credit to
Australia though they
showed they no how to put a team playin poorly to the sword.

I expect (actually no I demand) that the Boks lift for the old foe next
week.

One thing is for sure there wont be any Australian coverage of the referees
performance this week.

Too much politics in South African rugby, and too much loyalty. Some of
these older players should have been cut years ago. There's no team
unity at all, from what I can see. They are really in trouble of
getting some big hidings in this tournament. One wonders if beating
the AB's in Durban last year was actually a good thing for the team.
Maybe if they lost that too, tongihts team may have fielded quite a few
different players.

ok from a neutral what is your take on the ref's performance

My opinion is that SA made it quite easy for him because the breakdown was
not contested

SA lost the match due to their poor ball retention in the first 20 minutes

>
> Seemed to be somewhat of an attitude problem tonight as the Bok defence
> was just woeful.
> To be honest I am embarresed for the Boks I dont think I have ever seen
> them play that bad.

I've sensed a lot of apathy this week as if a lot of people knew this was
coming. I certainly did. But as Dave pointed out in another post, the Cape
Town press has been quite scathing of JW's selections and living in CT, it
is hard to escape it.

> Jaco was poor and Spies looked a bit out of his depth. All credit to
> Australia though they
> showed they no how to put a team playin poorly to the sword.

This will be a big test of character for Spies. What a game to debut in.
Hopefully he will be okay because he will surely have to be dropped as he is
just not ready for this level, but he is such a big talent and hopefully
it's not a case of too much too soon. The odd thing is, we all knew it was
going to happen, why didn't Jake?

As for Jaco, it has to be ta ta.

>
> I expect (actually no I demand) that the Boks lift for the old foe next
> week.

This has to be the kick in the pants that the Boks needed. Mind you, we said
that after the Frogs game but nothing changed. Fuck I hope not but I'm not
sure how it can change. I fear the seeds have been sown and it is too late.

>
> One thing is for sure there wont be any Australian coverage of the
> referees performance this week.
>

Ach, I'm sure they'll find something to moan about.

Hehe. The game isn't long enough for that. If you've ever watched a 100

conversions and kickoffs let alone scoring.

But 50 is definitely on the cards.

More importantly, can the Boks possibly be that shit two weeks running?
Surely the embarrassment will spur them to make a little more effort in

Well first of all I'm not neutral.
I think that Honiss is a shite ref period so I'm biased.

I think SA were Ok in the set pecies but the ball retention throughout the
entire game was dire.
Don't think they were owned at the breakdown but they seemed to put pressure
on themselves the whole game.
In addition to that their defence was crap.

>> >>
>> >> One shit half ffs.
>> >
>> > Make that two shit halves. Truely the most disgraceful performance I've
>> > ever seen in the tri-nations. Absolutly smashed by a team that doesn't
>> > even have a front row.
>>
>> Yep, I spoke too soon. What a shocker.
>

Yeah, it's pretty obvious, and it's not just hindsight as we've been saying
this for a while. I think Jake has believed his own press after the success
of pulling Du Randt and Percy back from obscurity, and now thinks he can do
as he pleases and it will work. Snyman was a disaster and smacked of a
desperate man looking to pull off the same miracle again. And he looks to
have just been trusting blind luck with Jaco, hoping he'll have a decent
game.

The thing is, the baby Boks are doing so well and a lot of young talent is
emerging. That is undeniable. Watch the Stormers become a strong side next
year for example. A lot of developing is going on here. The future looks
good and a lot of these youngsters will be a force in the next couple of
years. A season or two of S14 is needed though for the young Boks, not just
pulling a few 'names' into the squad as Jake did after the France game. It
really was a case of closing the stable door, etc. But mishandling these
guys is the danger. And if you look at Pienaar and Watson (again) and how he
has handled Bosman, is he doing things properly. Did Spies, Chiliboy and
Pietersen really deserve the call up because they did well in the u21's? Is
he pandering to the press because they have been so critical lately? I
think so and it is time to get back to basics. Select the squad on merit now
though and form must be the key. The old pals have served their purpose and
put the Boks back on the map in the last couple of years. But a blank sheet
of paper is need and a bit of pride needs swallowing.

Heh. Past midnight with a few beers and my writing skills aren't so flash ;)

I'm saying he'd be surprised at how much time actually gets eaten up in

I'm also wondering if he has actually seen a 100 point match because
while SA are dire by their standards they're no Japan.

It's both IMO but I'm taking it as read that the Boks won't find a
hidden reservoir of skill in just 1 week. I reckon that mentally and
physically they just weren't making the same effort after the first 15
mins, hence my comment.

I think the Wobblies have done us no favours. SA will be laagering up
now and will be in full presecuted underdog mode by the time they hit
Wellington. Add to that the facts that they're our oldest rivals and
everybody raises their game against the ABs, and it'll be a lot closer
than some might think.

What will be interesting will be to see if Henry sticks with his A
team or gives the next level a bit of a run. Personally, I'd like to
see the A team up against the rush defence. Giteau showed it up in all
it's flawed wonder and if the ABs cop the lesson, it may be a field
day for the backs.

>>> because Jake has some explaining to do. But instead he cocks a snoot at
>>> the country and says he's doing it his way. It's hard to support him and
>>> he's lost a lot of support even before today's display.
>>>
>>> It's 42-0 at the moment and I'd like to know what his thinking was. It's
>>> not much to ask.

>> For sure it isn't. Good luck getting the answers.
>>
>> Seemed to be somewhat of an attitude problem tonight as the Bok defence
>> was just woeful.
>> To be honest I am embarresed for the Boks I dont think I have ever seen
>> them play that bad.
>> Jaco was poor and Spies looked a bit out of his depth. All credit to
>> Australia though they
>> showed they no how to put a team playin poorly to the sword.
>>
>> I expect (actually no I demand) that the Boks lift for the old foe next
>> week.
>>
>> One thing is for sure there wont be any Australian coverage of the
>> referees performance this week.

Every nation does it - yes even the NZ's living in the clouds with God.
Outside of the teams (for obvious reasons) it's usually done by diehard
dicks or by the media writing for the consumption of their local populus.
You'll find the people taking most offence on this group are the ones living
outside their home nation in opposition territory. They need to go home some
time and take off the rose coloured glasses to some of the reporting there.

it. It defied logic, and was a terrible decision - well short of what is

Not sure if was the same decision, but there was a clear replay of a Bok
scrum 5m out from the Wallaby line showing the Bok prop releasing his
binding causing the scrum to collapse.

So for those Ref knockers, logic may have been defied but it happened and
there is video evidence to support it.

>>Hehe. The game isn't long enough for that. If you've ever watched a 100
>>point match you'd be surprised at how much time is spent setting up the
>>conversions and kickoffs let alone scoring.
>>
>>But 50 is definitely on the cards.
>>
>>More importantly, can the Boks possibly be that shit two weeks running?
>>Surely the embarrassment will spur them to make a little more effort in
>>Wellington.
>
>

It's rare that a team like the Boks get two hidings in a row. I can' see
them winning but I do expect it to be tight, for at least most of the first
half anyway :)

All I could think of is that the Aussie prop turning in so quickly caused
the bind to be dropped. There is no logical reason why the Bok prop would do
this deliberately is there?
Sure the evidence looks damning - but Bill Young got away with a lot for a
long time before refs got on to him. Honiss is very frutrating for viewers
because he doesn't actually get a lot wrong but he rarely is involved in a
game that flows. He doesn't have a great feel for the game and the
frustration of the players is almost always visible.
In this game the Aussies were good enough and the Boks bad enough to make
his style irrelevant. I'm only grateful he and Steve Walsh can never ref the
AB's.

Cheers, aMtt

We have already - I was at the Caketin on that fateful day of the Eales
penalty in the 256th minute of extra time! But I still rate him as one of
the best going. The biggest travesty is that Oz and SA will not be reffed by
Lyndon Bray this year - the best we have by a long shot IMO and yet the
powers that be don't regard him good enough. I wonder if there is a reason
we don't all know about?

>
> Different scrum so try again. Actually I would suggest you actually watch

But why would an attacking scrum that is pushing the shit out of the Aussies
collapse it ?

The fact is, attacking teams collapse scrums. The ref's call stands.

The first of Giteau's 5 pointers looked like a touch rugby try. And I

Made poor old Percy look fairly silly too.

In the Bok's defence, they were a man short at that stage.
