#1: Hell of a day for auto racing

Posted on 2006-03-27 00:43:07 by dchance

Dan Wheldon wins by maybe a foot in the IRL race in a
heck of a finish. Final lap pass where two cars were side
by side for most of the way around.

In the meantime, Martin Truex is spun out by Jeff Gordon
early in the NASCAR race... so he goes out for revenge.
He gets up next to Gordon, bumps him side-by-side for
a couple of laps... until Tony Stewart (who's sitting right
behind them and is watching the bump-and-grind) says,
"fuck this" and proceeds to take Truex out by spinning
him out and sending him into the inner wall and out of
the race.

And watch - next week, pretty much the first thing they say on the Fox
broadcast is, "We're starting a five-second delay" (because one of the
crew chiefs swore and it slipped through - looks like some team might
be out 25 owner's points).
