Anybody who thinks that Iran wants to overturn the
"Iraqi democracy" is dumner than a bag of hammers.

Then why are they sending so many people over and so much money to the
insurgents there?

No, they have no interest is overturning the burgeoning democracy in Iraq.

Anyone who thinks that Iraq's freely elected gov't isn't a direct
political and geographical threat to Iran's regime actually IS a bag
of hammers (or should I say a "bag of Hammetts"?)

Monitor the elections?

Why would they? The government will be run by Shi'ites, friendly to
Iran. If it lasts.

Need lotsa Kalashikovs and RPGs for that, huh?

The Iraqi government is not be "run by Shi'ites", it is a representative
government with Kurds and Sunnis heavily involved. That is in no way what
Tehran wants to see, which is a Iranian-style theocracy run, indeed, by
Shiites.

If all Iran wanted was a stable, non-hostile (read: not Saddam) government
next door, they wouldn't have to do anything but stay at home. This they
are NOT doing.

Spoken like someone who has zero understanding of the dynamics over there
and the reality that the Shiites in Iraq have been killing/getting killed by
the Shiites in Iran for 1400 years. They just take turns killing each
other.
