i started hating the asshole when watching the hearns-dennis andries
fight and in the last round andries nailed hearns with a beautifull left
hook on the jaw and put hearns down to a knee and lampley said " that
was not a knockdown". i realized then he didn't know his ass from a hole
in the ground. later after the wobbly hearns got up,he whispered
something in andries ear and andries went down about 20 seconds later
from nothing at all and lampley never had the balls to question it. he's
got no boxing sense whatsoever.

Yeah, and Lampley and the entire HBO crew's total prejudice right from
the outset against James Toney in the Rahman fight was quite evident, as
I'm sure you'll agree. Funny how they didn't take any notice of the
massive number of rabbit punches and kidney shots Rahman was
dishing out through the entire match. I wonder if they'll notice if he does
the same thing against Maskaev? :-)
Then again, Showtime is massively pro-Toney, so maybe they aren't
much better.

After watching tape of Spinks - Karmazin yesterday that my friend gave
me, I am ashamed to say that the call actually needed some more HBO
type "personality." There were moments that just begged for Merchant
intoning something like "Is that Roman Karmazin or Frankenstein?" or
"Roman has seen Russian matrushkya dolls that hit harder than Cory
Spinks!" Bernstein is the best technical play by play boxing analyst
out there, but I wouldn't mind if Showtime got a third man (maybe a
former fighter) to spice things up some. Might be interesting.

me a true boxing fan.

That's not true. Lampley has been married 3 times. IIRC, he is divorced
from Bree Walker, the woman with a disability where she was born without
fingers on her hands. They have a child (or 2) with the same
disease/disfiguration. They reportedly had an affair while both were
married while working a Southern California television station.
She appears to have had facial plastic surgery and looks like shit now. But
that's just my opinion.

She played a small part in the second season of HBO's Carnivale (as one
of the carnival attractions). I remembered how she looked before the
surgery and did not recognize her until I saw her name in the closing
credits. She does look hideous after the apparent cosmetic surgery.
Before, she had a very attractive face.

Gary... Lamp's has become so much of a 'homer' now, he's lost his
way... he always had that tendancy to cheer lead for HBO contracted
guys but he always tried to balance it out... now he's just trumpeting
cliches... not sure what's goin' on...
