I've following Zidane in the real Madrid for years, to his credit i
don't recall something even close to what he did. There's no excuse
however, you never know what demons are people fighting, what kind of
life they are leading. Were Zidane a boxer might as well sucker-punched
someone.

I heard yesterday that the Italian dude called him a "dirty terrorist"
(Zidane is a Muslim.) Real classy...
That's sports though. It's always the retaliator who pays the price,
even if the instigator deserves to get smacked.

I read that lipreaders hired by the press have determined that he did
not say that. It was something more traditionally used to taunt an
opponent. ("Your mother wears army boots" type of thing or slightly
worse).

Whatever was or was not said, Zidane showed no class whatsoever.

Maybe he said "your mother wears Taliban army boots"?

Just a little worse: " I hope your wife and children die a horrible death."
I'd headbutt the fucker for that.

Same here. But then again, I'm not a world champion soccer player, and
my job sure as hell isn't playing for the World Cup.
Imagine if the last thing Jordan did on the court in the '98 Finals
was whip out his cock and piss on Bryon Russell. That'd be one hell of
a final image for his career. Come to think of it, that might have
been better than playing for the Wizards.

True enough. But what's done is done, I suppose. It *was* a
helluva headbutt, though. I think with all the match-fixing scandals
and such, the Italian team is hardly a model of morality.

He could have pissed on David Stern's shoes after the trophy
presentation, though. I'm sure Rodman would have joined in.

Yeah, but there are a lot worse and more dangerous fouls that occur in
soccer than that butt. It certainly was not in the realm of creating a
career ending injury. It wasn't sneaky. He lost his cool and he paid the
price, as did his teammates.

Thus he showed no class. The team suffered for is lack of self
control.

DCI,
Foolish, unforgiveable and he's paid for the 'crime'... a total genius
of the game for over a decade... his ability on the ball and game
winning strikes at all levels make him iconic... one boneheaded move
doesn't erase a career of class and accomplishment...

I think my comment about Zidane pertained only to the incident at the
World Cup. He nearly erased all that he has earned in soccer
(football).

Instead of falling down like a nancy, Metarazzi should have tried to
take a good piece out of ZZ's ear!
Isn't this the 'normal' reaction to an 'unsporting' headbutt?
