As noted earlier in the week in the PWInsider.com Elite section, there's
been a lot of talk internally within SpikeTV about expanding their
relationship with TNA. While TNA has always been liked by Spike executives
(because after being burned by WWE, there was less of an ego dealing with
TNA Management), there was something of an asterisk on TNA because it had
mostly followed UFC programming. When TNA lost very little of their audience
last week without a UFC lead-in, it created a big boost for TNA within
Spike. The fact that UFC's replacement comedies in the old UFC lead-in slot
and the new Blade series (based on the Marvel Comics character) have not
fared well, also assisted TNA in looking good to executives. There has been
increased discussion of late about different ideas for expanding the
TNA-Spike relationship, specifically how TNA is used on the network.
Announced for next week's Impact is Jay Lethal "getting his shot at the
gold", although it isn't specified what that means. Senshi's X-Division
championship seems the most likely choice.
