Red Sox Nation
Happy Birthday To You if today's your birthday! You share the cake
with these people, among others:

Thomas Carvel (1906, RIP) - Founder of the Carvel Ice Cream Company.
You can go pick up your Fudgie the Whale ice cream cake at your local
participating Carvel Ice Cream Store.

William Hanna (1910, RIP) - With Joseph Barbera, producer and creator
of the cartoon team of Tom and Jerry (mini trivia - in the first T&J
cartoon Tom's name was actually Jasper). Later went on with Joe to
form their own production company which gave us such cartoon stars as
The Flintstones, the Jetsons, Yogi and Boo-Boo, Captain Caveman and
Scooby Doo, just to name a few. There is much love for the rest of the
roster, just not enough room for them all.

Woody Guthrie (1912, RIP) - World reknowned folk singer, giving us such
songs as "This Land is Your Land" and "Roll on Columbia". Father of
Arlo Guthrie, a folk singer in his own right.

Gerald R. Ford (1914) - 38th President of the United States, the only
man not elected to either President or Vice President to hold the
offices. Became Veep when Spiro Agnew resigned and took the top spot
after Nixon did same. Failed in his bid for (re)election (with Bob
Dole at his side) in 1976. Known as a clumsy man thanks to some
footage of him slipping down the stairs of Air Force One, he was
repeatedly spoofed by Chevy Chase on "Saturday Night Live" for this.
Also is Homer Simpson's favorite former president.

Ingmar Bergman (1918) - Influential Swedish movie director, directed
such films as "Fannie and Alexander", "Cries and Whispers" and "Through
a Glass Darkly".

John Chancellor (1928) - Co-anchor of the "NBC Nightly News" with David
Brinkley, mainstay at NBC News for many years, doiing commenatry in the
last years of his tenure.

Roosevelt "Rosey" Grier (1932) - Member of the "Fearsome Foursome" of
the Los Angeles Rams in the early 1960s. He went on to some acting
roles and was also a needlepoint enthusiast. He became an ordained
minister and now helps disadvantaged inner-city youths.

Carl "Cubby" O'Brien (1946) - One of the original Mouseketeers on "The
Mickie Mouse Club". He was the drummer. Still hits the skins in New
York for theatrical productions and is touring with the show "Chicago".

Tommy Mottola (1947) - Co-owner of Casablanca Records, former head of
Sony Music Entertainment. Was a talent manager that worked with Hall &
Oates in the '70s and '80s. Also discovered Mariah Carey and later
married her. They divorced in 1995. Mini Trivia - The first big
signing for Casablanca after Tommy bought it was Lindsay Lohan.

Finally, Happy Birthday to...

Bubba Ray Dudley (1971) - The white half of the Dudley Boyz, with
D-Von. ECW and WWE tag champs, known for their "Extreme" style. The
team was split up in March 2002 as D-Von was sent to SmackDown and
Bubba Ray stayed on RAW. In November they reformed the tag team and
went on a tear. in 2005 the Dudleyz (All three - Bubba Ray, D-Von and
Spike) were released from their contracts, so they went to TNA, but
without the name Dudley. As Team 3-D, Brother Ray and Brother Devon
continued their "Extreme" ways, feuding with Team Canada and America's
Most Wanted. Currently, they are feuding with The James Gang, with
Brother Runt (Spike) in tow.

Of course, if today is not your birthday, have a wonderful day as
well!!!
