Hi Runners,
The hot and insect season is here in Maryland full force. The first time I
took my shirt off while running, the insects had a feast. But the shirt was
a good weapon. I next ran without a shirt, and my back was miserable. Now I
carry a cotton hand towel, and it works great for swatting insects, back
scratching, and sweat mopping. So far I have not had to resort to Deet.
What have you found to be effective insect weapons?

I was in a store a few days ago and saw somw kind of an insect
repellant bracelet. I didn't buy it, but if somebody tells me its
works, maybe I'll give it a try. My blood must be sour tasting, bugs
don't generally bite me if there is anyone else nearby.

Running early morning or lunchtime in the summer.
Avoiding runs in the early evening (dusk) when the bugs are most
active.
Wearing a shirt, even in hot weather.
but honestly I haven't found bugs to be a problem when I run.
enjoy the run
