Hey,
I'm a runner & a web designer, and, after realizing that all of the
running logs online were a pain to use, I made my own. It's not
complete, and still has bugs, but I'd really like to get it out there
so that real runners can give me their thoughts on it.
The url to sign up is
http://miles.workingidea.com/users/add
(of course, email addresses aren't shared or anything like that. I'm
not evil)
Please give it a try & if you have any ideas, bugs, or rants, post them
either here, or use the "report a bug" feature to send them to me.

Have you tried the one at www.coolrunning.com ? I've found it to
be very user friendly, with many extra features.

Hey,
Yep, I've had an account on CoolRunning, Nike, and Running-log.com, and
all of them just haven't done it for me. If they work for you, then go
for it - it's ultimately the run that counts.

It would be nice to be able to at least look at your site without having to
register.

Uh, it's a personal running log application, so there isn't much that
would be useful to you without registering - I'll post some
screenshots, etc. but at this point, it isn't quite public.

He probably meant that none of the programming books that you read mentioned
to you that forcing people to verify an email is a silly thing to do.
Specially on a site where you are looking for feedback. Not even other more
prestigious sites will force you to do that.
My suggestion to you is to remove the silly need to verify an email and make
it obvious to people that the email is optional. If people do like your site
they can go back an update their email.

Never mind. Verifying emails is standard practice for preventing
spammers from flooding the signup pages of webapps, and I'm not doing
anything evil with the addresses (I don't look at them). I don't want
to start a flamewar or anything - it's a free thing, I'm seeing if it
can do someone out there some good. If it's not for you, then no big
deal.

It may be a standard practice for you.
If you really want to prevent spammers (I really doubt this would be problem
for your site at this very early stage) then you should implement signups
using strategies such as Captcha validation

Wheatear you want to continue to ask people to validate email or not I
honestly don't care, I am only trying to help you. At least wait until you
actually have the spamming problem before you implement that strategy.
