Whats the situation with Jono Gibbes having second thoughts on his
transfer to the Hairsprays?

He might be having second thoughts, but if he reneges, Cuddy will
probably sue his arse.

"Jono signed a contract with us on April 10 and was nothing but
positive about the Ospreys and the prospect of coming to Wales to play
rugby." Mike Cuddy.

Jono having second thoughts on the matter is relevent to the matter,
but it does not cover the whole story. According the Ospreys he has
signed a contract. This means that he has an obligation to fulfil the
terms of the contract or leave himself open to having legal action
enacted against him. Knowing Mike Cuddy, he will not hesitate to sue
Gibbs for his failure to perform, should that be the case. In fact, his
expression of having second thoughts makes him an unwilling party to an
agreement he freely entered into. That in itself is sufficient to make
an actionable case.

I suspect Walt wanted clarification of the position of all parties not
just the errant JG. The Ospreys have expressed confidence that he will
fulfil his part of the bargain willingly, but with sufficient strength
of purpose that makes me think they will go after him should he try to
wriggle out.

What happens if he is already contracted elsewhere? What point is there
going after him if the original contract still stands? What would Ospreys
gain from it? Perhaps it could be a warning for future players to be more
careful when negotiating there lucrative pension years in the NH.

To teach him a lesson.

The satisfaction gained from teaching the bastard a lesson, and some
financial compo.

Certainly could. String him up, and hang him out to dry.

Reports at the NZ end continue to indicate that Gibbes signed only an
'option' to play for the Ospreys rather than a binding contract.

Obviously somebody is bullshitting and it's usually the player (or at least
his agent) who fucks up rather than the club, but it might still be worth
keeping an open mind rather than taking the Ospreys press utterances as
gospel.

Might encourage British rugby administrators to actually sign an ex-AB
_before_ calling the Press to announce that "We've signed an ex-AB!"

Bear in mind his NZ "club" is the NZRFU. Things are a bit different down
here. Be interesting to see what Ospreys do - or if it really was only an
"option". You can be assured he's not staying here for the money!

Stopping the ugly fucker playing rugby for 3 years might teach New

Was it a signed contract? Or did the Ospreys guy just wish it was?
It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. As for contracts and
New Zealanders, I've spent the last 15 years contracting and I know
dozens of other Kiwis doing the same sort of stuff. We know our
contract law, especially UK contract law, and we probably know it far
better than your Joe Normal permy does. As for rugby contracts, there
are so many Kiwis playing at every level in the UK, much of them on
contracts of one sort or another, that I'd suggest again they probably
have far greater knowledge and understanding of contract law than the
locals. When this all pans out, you might find that the New Zealander
has taught the local the meaning of a signed contract.

Kids Rick! They're all the same these days. All you can do is take
their Burberry caps off the back of their heads and try and shove your
boot where it will do them most good in later life.

I'll say this for him, he's tried to join in on an adult ng which shows
ambition of a sort. Got no idea how adults behave though and probably
won't stay around long enough to learn anything.

End up as a soccer fan I'd guess.

It's worth a go I suppose.

This is a rugby union ng. For the most part the regulars are a pretty
good bunch. Discussion tends to follow the tried and tested along the
lines of which teams are better than which: which clubs and which
players. Sometimes there's even a tangent about Aussie drug taking or
forward passes.

Like all ngs there are a series of dynamics and protocols in place.
These can be found for the most part in the FAQ, all ngs have them and
they're centrally located.

There's often little spats and feuds in here but, for the most part, all
are welcome and treated tolerantly

Hackles tend to rise however when some cunt drifts in with a wendyball
attitude. Like suggesting that only the ABs are wothwhile and that all
other teams, players, countries are just wank. Something like your
attitude in fact.

By being stupid you've even managed to tick off a couple of AB supporters.

Now it's up to you how you want to behave in here but you're going to
either modify and fit in, and take part, or you're going to get bored
when no-one bothers to answer you - assuming you make some point worth
answering in the first place.

Humour is always welcome if you can't manage rugby but being an
obnoxious cunt says more about you than the people/country/team/player
that you slag off.

As for picking someone up on their nick, or typos then you're wasting
your time. I might just as easily ask you if you'd been invented by ee
cummins... which would be pointless for a whole variety of reasons.

I don't know that is really contributing to the Raising of the Tone
here, Andrew.

I wasn't aware it was an invitation-only thread, cunt features.

You can imagine a smiley at the end of that sentence, if it helps.

Given that enough people over here are convinced that Gibbes signed a
binding contract with the Ospreys on 10/4/06 (everyone has the same date so
there must be something to it) I would be amazed (and very very
disappointed) if this was not the case. That Gibbes it seems wants to get
himself out of it does not necessarily mean that the o's cocked it up in the
first place. I expect a transfer fee to the ospreys will have to be paid, if
informed opinion here is correct and he has actually signed a contract and
not an option.

If on the other hand he only signed an option and his signature was
announced, then I'll be first in the queue to exact revenge on the o's
management for an almighty cock-up, and downright lie.
