Should you live anywhere near Surrey/Bucks/Middlesex borders, since I can no
longer carry, I am open to offers on a Wilson Prostaff stand bag barely
used (maybe 6 times at most).

seems most of the juniors in our club have a 'powerdaddy' providing them
with all the top branded gear from powerkaddy electric trollley through
nike blades etc. They don't even bother looking for their proVI's when
they cut one 300yds into the barley. Makes rich pickings for us old uns
who think five minutes is worth devoting to finding an item worth over
£3 . I always try and follow the junior medal round to top up my supply
of pro v's and the latest fancy brush tees which they can't be bothered
to pick up either :-)

I think I spend more time looking for a lost tee peg than I do looking
for a lost ball. At least there is no time limit!

They're also just about the slowest players on the course, in many
clubs.

Eee, when ah were a lad, we used to get up at dawn, cycle to the course
wi' our clubs on't bike, play six rounds with just a jam buttie and a
drink from the water fountain, and then go home again and do us
homework.

Oh yea?
6-7?
I even bought a bag of tees for a friend I play with and still he insists in
searching for the tee he started the round with.
It has come down to my watching where his tee goes rather than his ball - it
shortens the round!!

If a player lets go of his club whilst playing a stroke, or even a
practice swing for that matter, and the club becomes lodged in some
branches etc. Would it be considered undue delay if he were to spend
some time retrieving it? How much time would be allowed and would the
ruling be any different if it were a club thrown in anger as opposed to
accidentally?

We also had a situation a couple of years ago when a visiting golfer in
a District Union comp was playing a stroke and his trolley started to
move and ended up turned over in a (very wet) ditch which took over five
minutes to sort out before he could carry on.

Always a difficult one. It becomes very much a matter of judgement.
If the club was thrown in anger, I would personally allow no time for
retrieval beyond, say, a couple of minutes.
Otherwise, provided the actions to retrieve the club lost accidentally, were
more or less continuous I would not worry up to around 5 minutes.
If after that time it looks as if it is going to take considerably longer
(say another 5 minutes), then as a Rules Official, I might need to think
whether it was now time to warn of possible undue delay.
Other Rules Officials may be more lenient or less so.
The point is that delay is not the issue, but undue delay.
If it is clear from the outset that a ladder is going to be needed, for
example, then I would expect the player to continue his round and make
arrangements to get the club down later.

The same would apply to the trolley.
There is however a Decision 6-8a/4 - Discontinuing Play Due to Inoperable
Motorised Cart - which under somewhat similar circumstances does allow the
Committee to permit golfers to replace the cart if it would be unreasonable
for them to carry their clubs.

Malcolm
