Country Club Membership [message #1069906] So, 16 Juli 2006 00:23

I'm not a real good golfer, handicap index would probably be around 20, but
I'm considering a "Social Golf Membership" at the local country club. Can
you suggest "yea" or "nea" and why? Or should I just stay with the local
course I play now?

I joined a club this year. While not a country club (no pool or dining
room, etc), it's a fantastic course and there are some benefits to a
club: Usually a private club won't get as much play as a public
course, therefore the rounds are faster. You generally won't get the
drunk asshole in front of you on a public course, since everyone would
know who that drunk asshole is.

I don't know how your club works, but at mine, all you get with a
social membership is the ability to play twice a month, and you must
pay greens fees. This is really not
worth much, if you want to golf. Why not get a full golf membership?
You'll find that
there are many members with higher handicaps than you, plus they
probably have practice facilities, so you can improve.

Van Zandt Country Club has a social membership that includes unlimited golf
(no cart include, but that's ok) in addition to pool (don't care) and
dining.

Some friends and I usually play a course called Indian Oaks (sometimes
referred to as Peeltown) near Kemp. $13 (weekdays) for seniors (55+)
includes green fee, cart, and lunch (hamburger, chips, and tea/lemonade).
Relatively short course, but it's cheap and that's what I like.

One big advantage of C.C. membership: At a typical public course, if you
need to have an orgasm after a round, you have to jack yourself off. At a
country club, they have staff who will do this for you. (Don't forget
to properly tip them of course...)

With the class you show, how would you know anything about anything?

go for it, you have the inclination, or you wouldn't have posed the
question.

membership in a country club is a status symbol as well as the enjoyment
one derives from the membership advantage.

Not sure what "social golf membership" means or what it buys you. Private
clubs are great in some respects. Tell us how much it costs, what you get
for it, and what your priorities as a golfer are.
