Michelle Wie - again. [message #1069819] Sa, 15 Juli 2006 17:59

I'm going to have to defend Wie. The only thing she is doing wrong is
trying to play men's events. Anything else she does "wrong" can be written
off as age related. All of you who are running her down constantly might
try staying with her on a golf course. I know, I know. Some of you can.
But, she is a really good golfer for her age.

Michelle should stay on the women's events as she continues to mature and
improve. Beyond that, I applaude her. Go Michelle!

Which means that she would play a little more than half as many events
as she does now. It's too late for her to limit her play to girls'
events, and the LPGA and PGA limit how many events children can play
on their tours.

I don't think there's anything wrong with her playing men's events. If
her ultimate goal is to play on the PGA tour, what's her best route??
Playing against the men. It doesn't matter that she's a girl, the PGA
is not called the "Men's PGA" like the LPGA is the ladies. If she was
a boy hardly anyone would be complaining. It's not her fault the
sponsors invite her, and I can't criticize her for accepting if that's
what she wants.

just have to make a comment.....I am a female.....I personally love the
fact that a female so young has the hutzpa (sp?) the nerve, the faith
that she can compete with men in a golf competition....I am still so new
to golf I do not know all of the terms and cannot write anything very
impressive here...but I just had to say a kind word on behalf of a
female (my gender) with the faith to attempt to blaze a new trail....I
am a fan of the trailblazers in our word....have blazed a few
myself....the many will always misunderstand the few who have a dream, a
vision and have the faith to turn a deaf ear to the nay sayers and to
have the victories ......what did they say to the Wright brothers when
they were inventing the airplane...where would our world be without
dreams and dreamers.....those with vision and see how the world can
be!!! I say, "long may they live" Michelle Wie though a much younger
woman than myself I find to be a great inspiration and it makes me
wonder what is missing in some of the people who write such very ugly
vicious things about her in some of the posts here...Not that Michelle
is here to read these put downs but what goes around comes
around....keep that in mind....When I was very new I had some visions
and intuitions on how my game would unfold and had nay sayers try to put
me down but in spite of their comments I did make 14 birdies in a 6
month period....I cheer young Michelle on ...she seems to me to be one
who is being true to herself...a trailblazer and I say..."you go Girl!!"

That's all real nice Rizz, but in the real world, Michelle banked more money
the day she turned pro than some of the all time greats made in their entire
careers. Whether she makes cuts or wins is $econdary.

Her parents are the one's behind this. Wie makes millions by appearing in
these men's events by the sponsors paying her big bucks. She is making far
more money playing on men's tour than on the LPGA.

It all comes down to the $$$$$$$$$$$

A "gimme" can best be defined as an agreement between
two golfers neither of whom can putt very well.
