Michelle - it's time you dropped this pipe dream of playing with the
men. You haven't the physical ability or mental toughness. You are
embarassing your entire gender.

Is it appropriate to let men and women compete in golf? I have my
doubts. When I play with my friends and my wife happens to be in the
group I can=B4t at all muster the usual fighting spirit. I suspect that
the presence of a woman somehow dampens the aggression needed in a
tough match. Any opinions? F

When men don't know how to compete against women, then those men don't
know how to compete.

A "gimme" can best be defined as an agreement between
two golfers neither of whom can putt very well.

Yeah. The problem isn't with the women. The problem is with you.
When you stop treating women as the inferior sex, deserving and needing
your forebearance, you'll find this feeling goes away.
It's only because many men define women as inferior and/or weak that
playing with and against women is threatening. If they lose to someone
who is defined as weak and inferior, what does that say about them?
The answer, of course, is to define women differently, as equals, not as
inferiors.
When you do that, the problem disappears.

Inferiors?? Who told you this bullshit? Or are you utterly mad? I was
taught never to hit girls and in all sports I have partaken men and
women compete separately, i.e. football (soccer), karate and golf.
There are physical reasons for this and perhaps psychological as well.
A minor collision in football could easily rip apart the ligaments in a
woman=B4s knee, especially if she is having her period. When two men
fight each other lots of adrenalin and testosterone will pour into
their bloodstream, and I wonder if a normal man could harness such an
aggression towards a woman. Perhaps you can, Mike, but I strongly doubt
if, say, Tiger, Immelmann, Vijay, Langer etc could go with it. F

As long as Wie gets millions from sponsors merely for showing up for the
men's event, she isn't going to stop playing in them.
Far more money for her playing in these events then in LPGA events.

You are probably right. Not in the spirit of fair play, really. Would a
man be allowed to compete in a Ladies event - in the name of equality?

The July, 2006 Golf Digest has an article "101 Secrets to Great Golf".
Some of the topics are "How to Play in Scotland without Going Broke",
"How to Overcome Jet Lag by Gary Player", "How to Deal with a
Cheater", "How NOT to join a Country Club", and
#24 "How to Lose to your Wife" - by Brian Inkster (who last beat his
wife four yeas ago on a quirky course in Hawaii.
#99 "How to convince your Spouse to let you take a trip with your
Buddies" by David Owen starts:
The wife of one of my regular golf buddies not only encourages
him to take golf trips, but actually makes his plane reservations and
packs his bags. Quite obviously, she's having an extramarital affair
and wants him out of the way - so his golf trips are win-win at their
house...
Those are tips worth reading!!

Have you ever played alternate shot Chapman with your partner playing
from different tees as you? It's interesting.

I bet any of the above would have no problem playing well against a
woman.

Right now it isn't a choice. She's playing in as many LPGA events as
they let her.

I find this behavior very strange, especially coming from mostly hacks.
Why does she threaten you so much? I can tell you right now that
she's a much better golfer than I, and that's just the way it is. Are
you jokers just unwilling to admit the same? Your fathers must have
been really fucked up for you oppose this so much.

Pretty lame response.
You were talking about GOLF, not any sport where you have to hit someone.
Want to try again, this time relating it to GOLF?
You're a classic example of what I wrote about in response to your
question. Classic.
When you stop treating women as something needing protection, then
you'll have no problem competing with then. Until then, you'll respond
as you did above, both on Usenet and the golf course.

I never have, Howard. What's "Chapman"? I've played alternate shot,
and I've played in scrambles with women where we had to ensure that at
least "x" number of drives of each player was used.
Sometimes the women are intimidated by the men a bit--in fact, not
unlike what occurs when newbies play with our Sat and Sun groups (the
better players at the club). But all we need do in both cases is
encourage them, celebrate their good shots, commiserate on the bad ones,
and treat them as valued members of the team, which they are.
Amazing what happens when you do that, isn't it?

When two sets of tees are being used, there is an incentive to using
the woman's tee shot and the man's second shot - as you get the added
distance between tees. But tee shots are longer than 2nd shots, and
if you take the woman's tee shot, then you take her 3rd shot as well,
even on par-5 holes.

There's a lot of life with women or without them where this revelation
works well.

You are clearly an idiot, Mike Dalecki, but unfortunately you will
never realize that yourself. Anyone who reads this and the other answer
(to HB) where you describe your behaviour to the ladies at your club
will see the contradiction - but you will not. Besides, you are unable
to understand the meaning of the issue I raised (not that I care too
much). I have nothing against playing with women and often do and I
never treat them like they were mentally handicapped, like you do. You,
yourself, are of course not mentally handicapped, but you are a stupid
and arrogant person. F
