| Update - The Predictions League 2006/7 [message #1065849] |
Sa, 15 Juli 2006 02:23 |
|
So far entries have been received from Os, Sid, Roondog,
Nomorehammerettes, et moi.
You'll have to trust me that I'm not cribbing on the predicto goodness
which has been sent, and if my entry looks anything like Os's it is
mere coincidence. For the rest of you who are awaiting crucial
transfer-me-do before submitting your entries there is just one month
left, so don't come blubbing to me if you miss the deadline.
I won't bother with all of that cut / paste melarkee ; I'll type it all
out again for you late adopters >
The Predictions League 2006/7 is now open for entries, and the deadline
for your entries is 12:30 hrs on Saturday 19th August 2006.
All you have to do is rearrange the Premiership League table into the
order in which you think finish the season, and then e-mail it to
tommocubed at dialstart dot net
===================================
Your name as it is to appear on the League Table :
Arsenal
Aston Villa
Blackburn
Bolton
Charlton
Chelsea
Everton
Fulham
Liverpool
Man City
Man Utd
Middlesbrough
Newcastle
Portsmouth
Reading
Sheff Utd
Tottenham
Watford
West Ham
Wigan
===================================
This is a free to enter, "fire and forget", cufflink blagging
competition. An updated league table showing how your predictions are
faring against the others will be posted on here throughout the season,
and the person who is top of the pile on Christmas Day will receive a
small prize. The bloat will be ready before the season starts.

that would be really nice with you, if you don't mind.
If you could just swap Liverpool to 1st and Chelsea to 2nd, that would help.

Vicky, all four were sent on 11/07/06, and I checked really late on
Friday night / Saturday morning before posting this. Don't you keep
them in Sent Items? Usually they are saved there by default unless you
specify otherwise, so have a look.

You know, I have an incredible urge to slap you now. I'm not a fucking
newbie who doesn't know how to use mail, believe it or not. Unfortunately
when replying to a news post (and yes, I changed the email address on the
reply) it goes via a news reader not a mail reader, and so no, there is
no such thing as a 'sent-items', or a "Sent Items" or any other kind of
items-which-have-been-sent area.
I will attempt to recreate what was obviously a winning league, but when
I fail to win again this year I will hold you responsible. Bah.

Well *I* didn't fcuking know, did I !? I was just trying to be helpful,
but it obviously had the same effect as wishing Zinadine Zidane and his
folks an ugly death.

Right, you're going to slap me in a minute, aren't you, but here goes ;
Save a copy on Notepad or similar.
*OUCH!*

And there you go again, assuming I'm a Windows user. Look at the newsreader

Pfft, like you'd be able to say "ouch" if I were to slap you.

Oh, he's always at it. Why, only last week, Tommocubed turned
up at my house at three in the morning. Unsurprisingly, I was
barefoot at the time but for some reason, he took it as his cue
to give me a six-hour tutorial on how to tie my shoelaces.
Then, he noticed that I'm a bit of a skinny bastard, so Tommocubed
being Tommocubed took it upon himself to give me a 12-hour
masterclass on how to boil a fucking egg.
Patronising cunt.

Tommocubed giving Vicky a lesson in how to use the "Sent
Items" folder. Maybe my favourite post ever.
It was always going to be a massacre.

Will you be doing regular updates this year, Tommocubed?
Last year wasn't the same without them.

Do you ever read UserFriendly? (.org)
One of my favourite ever cartoons is where the new techy girl arrives and
is introducing herself to the team, someone asks what her qualifications
are, she lists blah blah blah computersciencedegree blah blah, then she
sits at a computer and one of the other techies comes up and says "Ok, this
is a mouse, click-click, now you try" ...
Ok, it may have lost a bit in the translation.
>It was always going to be a massacre.
Sorry, it was probably a very half-hearted massacre, tbh. I've been on
holiday, I'm tired and slightly mellow.

Very regular updates. I'll be ramming it so hard down your throats
you'll be thinking I'm one of the USA Socher calendar boys. I must say,
Casey Keller could turn even a man's head in that tu tu thing he's
wearing.

I know even less about DOS, dear Tommo, than I do about Windows.
Plain text, everyone, even the archive monster, knows is the way forward.

That's very disappointing. Imagine how our team will feel on finding out
their co-manager thinks they'll only finish 8th. Still, that's above
Wigan and Aston Villa.

Oh, don't go blaming it all on the holiday. You've changed a lot from
the Vicky Conlan I first met back in 1974 or whenever it was that I
arrived in this desolate wasteland. You used to be much angrier, much
more temperamental and much less tolerant.
Where did it all go wrong, Vicky?

As a keen purveyor of the binary language, this comment offends me.
It's simultaneously anti-Irish and anti-blurry while also being filthier
that anything even Ben Nunn has ever posted.
