Three things:
1) I doubt it will be Phillipe, he hasn't coached at a high enough
level yet. In a couple of seasons he'll be ready for the French League,
then a couple of seasons after that, he might make it to the pinnacle
of European rugby: the Celtic League.
2) Imagine how good France would be if they had really good coach.
3) How long before Laporte turns up in a club?

I don't know where that "fashion" for coaches to claim they'll quit before
major events comes from. But it's pretty annoying. Former french footie
coaches did the same. It never turned out brilliantly...
Laporte remains Laporte and we have to deal with that.

You have it easy Donnie, ours quit in the middle of the season.

I think it is a case of jumping before being pushed, I have felt over the
past year in particular that TheDoor was looking a bit wobbly on the
hinges. If France had put in an England type performance in the last 6N, (and
they were not far off it) I felt he would have been unceremoniously dumped.
He has been the object of criticism from various quarters, much of it
warranted (due to his tendency to select only his favourites, largely from
Stade Francais and Stade Toulousain). He has also suffered from a club v
country dispute such as is occurring in England, a situation which has
received less media attention but is just as fratricide in its effects and
just as far from being resolved if not further..
So he's going after the next RWC. Not too extraordinary given the above. As
to who may take over. St André is becoming too English, he speaks the
language so thats one strike against him, Guy Novès of Toulouse is too much
of a maverick, and frankly, given the budget and the players that he has,
Toulouse underperforms.. Lagisquet of Biarritz might be a candidate, but
personally I fancy Berbizier coming back for a second go.
