As you probably noticed, Brenda was the official photographer and
heckler at the event this year, taking her life in her hands and
standing right in sh**k (1) range to take pics of you folks. Thank you
from both of us for not hitting one into her. :)
I've posted the pics that she took that were good to my Pbase account:
http://www.pbase.com/double_entendre/rsg_nw_2006
If anyone wants a high-res version of any of 'em suitable for printing,
please let me know and I'll get it to you.
Thanks to everyone for a great time and a big hug & thank you to Scott
for putting on such a wonderful event. I'm sorry I couldn't lift him
as well as Thor could, but the sentiment was there.
If I can put on an RSG SoCal I'm hoping that many of you can make the
trip down here. Planning is only just begun and I'm seeking input from
Scott, Mike Dalecki, and others, hoping to create something that could
attain the level of tradition that Scott has. Anyone who's got
thoughts about what would make the event something that could be of
interest to you, please send me an email at
double_entendre [at] hotmail.com.
Brenda's and my best to all,
Bob
(1) Just for you, Tex. :)

I finally got my pictures up. I left most of the blurrier ones out.
Guess I need practice holding my hands still, this is my first time
taking a bunch of pictures.
I think you can go to this link:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/duffy917/my_photos
Probably not as cool to everyone else, but I got some shots of my home
town, neighborhood, and adjacent places as the plane was descending. I
tried to zoom in on where my house is and it's pretty blurrer.
Should've just used optical zoom.

Bob,
Thanks for the pictures. I took one look at mine and thought, "no
wonder my driver was 'underperforming' all weekend!" I looked through
the March issue of Golf Digest last night, and saw that exact same pose
shown as an example of casting, and how to correct it. I guess I get
to add you to my line up of swing coaches!

Hey, if it was easy we'd all be on tour. :)
Thanks! I'll pass on your compliments to the chief photographer &
heckler, Brenda. I think I took 20 photos maybe all weekend, most of
which I didn't end up using. Sure wish I'd had brains enough to wipe
the freaking camera lens after taking pics in the rain....duh.
Brenda and I were talking about an RSG SoCal (IIRC, I copied Dug on the
"concept" email) tonight over dinner and I mentioned the idea of having
a video camera to be used as well. I was thinking it could be a lot of
fun, especially if no one knew it was there. I know of a hole that has
water short-left (to catch the hookers) and the driving range
long-right (to catch the faders). A camera hidden in the shrubs a la
Allen Funt could be a hoot. I know that I've got to be entertaining as
all hell to watch when I'm trying to use body English to get the ball
where I wanted it to be. Kelly, of course, would beat me for pure
(ab)use of the English language in attempts to influence ball flight.
:-D
FWIW and YMMV and all those other acronyms, but I'd suggest you skip
all the way past any article in a golf magazine on how to fix your
swing. Find a pro you trust and do what (s)he says. Very rarely do I
read articles with swing tips in them. I've got enough trouble trying
to do what my pro wants me to without trying to do what half a dozen
other pros want people to do. Too many people have different ideas
about the swing and a lot of them can't work with the others. IMHO.

Oh, I agree, but I also believe in the "if you can name it, you can
tame it" theory. I need to carve out some time to take some lessons.
It seems like the free time gets used to play golf, so I'm sort of in a
catch 22! Dug and I are hitting Horn Rapids again on Sunday.
Hopefully we'll have the same weather.

Remember, hit the ball BEFORE you hit Horn Rapids :)

I hope so, I'll send you some of the weather from Texas...we've got

No, no alternate shot. We haven't been married long enough to live
through that! He's heading out on the local course with some friends
(I didn't get an invite, hmmmm) in about 1/2 hour. The sky looks an
awful lot like it did LAST Friday about this time. Where is Thor when
he needs him?

Rats. I guess that leaves Hidden Valley out of the equation....
---------------
Hidden Valley Golf Club in Norco, Calif., claims it's "uniquely
qualified to assist you with planning and coordinating your golf
tournament." That statement took on a new meaning after the course was
raided in a prostitution sting in 2002.
Participants in a tournament could purchase sexual favors from
prostitutes who were waiting for them in tents along the fairways.
Course owner Henry Cox said he was embarrassed when he learned of the
raid and had no idea what was going on at his course. "Lots of
tournaments set up tents where drinks and prizes are handed out. Of
course, not like this."
Superior Court Judge Christian Thierbach chided three conspirators for
"immoral and illegal actions" at the so-called girlie tournaments in
spring 2002.
More than a dozen prostitutes and strippers, including a 16-year-old
girl, set up tents and advertised their services on boards, officials
said. About 160 golfers paid $200 US apiece to play, though some showed
up without their clubs, officials said.
Sheriff's deputies wearing camouflage raided the second tournament,
detaining 90 golfers and 17 strippers and prostitutes, along with golf
course workers.
Event organizer Sandy Juarez, 39, was accused of providing the
prostitutes. In a deal with prosecutors, she pleaded guilty to felony
conspiracy to corrupt public morals and testified against Jason Wood,
38, general manager of Hidden Valley Golf Club, and his former
assistant, Darren Bollinger, 30. Both pleaded guilty in July to the
same charge.

Wow, they allow 16 year old prostitutes in California? Now there's a
progressive state.

that's an older hooker in CA :) A friend of mine sent me pictures from a
golf tournament he played in a couple of years ago in Sacramento that
was similar to what Rancho Roberto described. The "girls" all looked to
be less than 18 years old (might just be because I'm old) and were NOT
dressed in golf attire. Matter of fact they were dressed in no attire.
I'm suprised they were allowed on the course without collared shirts :)

Last year or the year before, Empire Lakes hosted a tournament held by
Spearmint Rhino (a local strip club). There's a tunnel that runs under
6th street to get you from one half of the course to the other and they
turned that into a "tunnel of love" complete with lap dances and all
that.
*shrug*
Not my thing, but if you're attending a tournament held by a strip
club, presumably it is your thing. lol

although I'm as red blooded as any other male, I'd have to pass too.
When I go to the golf course I want to play golf. The other stuff is
better in private :)
