Well they have made the semis and live to fight another day.

Who knows it might still be the Bulls or Sharks versus the 'Canes at
the the tin?

Nah the bottom placed team has to play the Crusaders. The 2nd semi was
always going to be Canes-Tahs - only the venue was at stake.

Now, stand up the lightweights in this group who still try to claim
Jerry Collins is not the best 6 in NZ? Daylight second. They guy was
outstanding yet again, for the full 80.

Hmmm, despite being a supporter of neither team I just cannot wait to
see the game next week. So much at stake not just in the S14 but many
Wannabees and ABs playing for their jerseys as well. The Tahs should
take heart from their total domination of possession and territory, but
the Canes go in knowing their defence is just outstanding. Home
advantage for the Canes though. Can some stats monkey here tell us how
the Canes home 'advantage' stacks up?

He is as good a they get. How about that kick return, there'll be some
Waratahs having Jerry nightmares tonight. especially since they have to face
him again next week in Wellington.

It should be a lot easier since the the mind game is well and truly won. In
the second half the Tahs had 80% possession against 14 men for 20 minutes
and only managed to score once.
Even if through some miracle they win, then they'll have to take their
bruised and battered bodies to Christchurch to face

For these 2 teams the only side to win away is the Canes. And across both
wins in Sydney they total 5 yellow cards! Tonights ws easier because they
only ever got down to 14 men at a time - their other away win they had a
period of 13 men on the field!
On this occassion their pre game concerns about the ref appear to have come
true.

Admittedly Wendell's presence has had a huge influence on the average Waratah supporter's
understanding of the ethos of R.U. but hopefully his League-esque selfishness and accompanying
self-overratedness will be washed out and your mob can concentrate on getting that nice "hot sauce"
Gasnier fellow back to the table and if he doesn't work out there's always Braith Anasta.

I've certainly been critical (justifiably so) of Collins in the past,
but there's no doubt he had a great game last night (albeit a bit
fortunate to not fall foul of a yellow). But one also has to give
credit to So'oialo - he allows Collins to play the highly-visible game
in a way that Tuiali'i (sp?), Laukai etc would not.

Interesting. Makes you wonder if they shouldn't swap jerseys.

If the Tahs had half a brian between them they should've been up 42 points.
Didn't they also lose to the Chiefs because they didn't take the kick?

After dishing out 14 penalties in a row the ref will be under scrutiny.
Questions had been asked after his last game with the Canes - he showed he
was out of his depth.

It works as is. About the only time they fufill their respective roles
is at scrum time, other than that So'oialo and Collins swap jobs.

Collins is the ball carrying big hitter, So'oialo the covering,
defensive occasional ball winning loosie.

Of course for those who have long observed Tana Umaga getting closer to the
forwards with each passing year, the highlight of last week's match was
seeing him pack down as open-side flanker on a few occasions in the second
half, when So'oialo had been subbed in order to get a halfback on to the
field after Weepu was sent to the bin.
