Balls on the line. [message #1006018] Thu, 11 May 2006 13:09

Hurricanes vs Waratahs, who will win? I suspect the Waratahs will fire up
for this one, They'll win by 10. But I'll be yelling for the Hurricanes...
big game! Biggest this weekend anyway.

I'm already on record for Canes Crusaders final in Wellington. They're
gonna be a tough proposition when Nonu and Umaga fire.

Love to see that .. but I doubt it ... Canes have had their moments but
havent put on a really good performance this year.
The Tahs arent spectacular but they are consistent and have the best defence
in the comp .. I can see them strngling the canes for
much of the match and then runningn over the top of them at the end.

having said that .... since everyone else is tipping the Tahs I'm going for
the canes to upset and earn me some tipping points against the flow :)

You missed it. They fired for about 20 minutes last year.
Umaga has been utter shit this year and I don't expect any changes.
Waratahs to shut them out.

When?

If. An a pretty unlikely 'if' at that given the games I've seen them
play recently (not a lot admittedly).

Later,

I think the Hurricanes' season is going to go down exactly the same road
as last year - a tough away game in the final round, followed by exactly
the same game in the same place for their semi-final. It may seem a
boring and obvious tip but I think this year will end with the Crusaders
winning a rematch of Crusaders vs. Waratahs at Jade.

Cheers!
David...

You've seen enough (as has Bully judging by his comments).

Mind you, we should define what 'fire' actually means in this context. For
Umaga it's catching a pass; for Nonu, giving one.

This Hurricanes fan thinks the Waratahs will win this weekend, and next
weekend too in the rematch.

In the interests of fairness to Andrew here, let's put it to the vote.
I'll cast mine first;

Well, it's rather cold down Wellington way today, so I expect other members
of my household would probably vote with you.

I don't mind being wrong, BTW.

A Canes Crusader final in Wellington requires not only that Hurricanes beat
the Waratahs twice, but also that the Crusaders lose to the Brumbies this
week when they are without Gregan, Larkham, and Giteau, and then beat them
next week when some if not all of those three will be available again. The
odds on a final in Wellington are pretty small, but if it were to happen,
the most likely opponents would be the Brumbies (if they can beat the
Crusaders this week without their stars, they should be able to do it again
next week with them) or the Sharks.
