Consider using Ayr or Troon as a base. Ayrshire is a very nice area on
the coast to the southwest of Glasgow, with plenty of accommodation.
Within easy reach are lots of good courses, for example Troon,
Turnberry, Prestwick, Western Gailes, Belle Isle, Portland, Lochgreen,
and Barassie.

Turnberry, Prestwick, Western Gailes all ask for green fees approaching
£100 - your idea of 'budget' is different from mine

Definitely stay in Ayr or Troon. Ayr is a bigger town and offers more to
do in the evening, although like most of Scotland, restaurants tend to
stop serving before nine o'clock.

A very good budget course is Troon Municiple. It's a public course and
not expensive.

Have a look here http://www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/golf/index.htm

And enjoy yourself. Scotland is a lovely place.

I agree, stick to the west coast - click on this link for the James Braid
Golf Trail http://golf.visitscotland.com/jbcollection or the other option
is to try the great scottish links trail
http://golf.visitscotland.com/gslcollection - both with links highlight
great courses which will not be as expensive as the championship courses.

Enjoy your holiday - Scotland is great.

From 1 May a non resident can expect to pay £150 for a round on the Ailsa
Course on a weekday-[ £190 at the weekends.]
Stick to the many municipal courses in South Ayrshire.

Look - they are flying Ryanair for starters and then the very fact that
he mentions the words 'budget standard'indicate to me that you are
about right David - they are looking for good value, not top priced venues.

Thanks folks for your help.

over 100 pound for a day is in my term not budget. I am looking not for the
best courses, but for corses for av high Hcp players. I am not playing good
enough to enjoy the toons. I have to increase my skills very much before I
think paying around 100 pound is the right value. For us it is importent to
visit Scotland the land of golf, have som nice days playing.

Again thanks for the links and som advises
