*** SPOILER below ***
I don't have much to say about the fight, but it's one more
example of the Don King Curse: a fighter struggles mightily
to get out of a contract with King, rejoices happily when he
finally does so (loudly proclaiming his freedom and newfound
outlook on life to everyone), then proceeds to get brutally
KO'ed in his next bout. Off the top of my head, I can think
of the following fighters just in the last ten years who fell
victim to the "curse": Terry Norris (Keith Mullings),
William Guthrie (Reggie Johnson), James Page (Six Heads Lewis),
Six Heads Lewis (Mayorga), and now Byrd.
Is it just coincidence or is there a causal relationship?

I don't think it had any bearing on this fight, though I do agree with the
general trend.
