What a kneesup, can't wait
C'mon Didge, all drinks will be passed *forward* to you.

Hmmm, KLM sitting at £280 for the 16th to the 20th, from Glasgow.
No need to pass the drinks to me, I'll be at the bar supplying you all.
When I drink everybody drinks, and when I pay, everybody pays.....etc etc.
Ah, bonus. We won't have to wait around to 9pm to watch bloody Wales
play because of the time difference. Frankly staying awake until 9 for
that would be more of a challenge than carrying Devlin home....

Count me in. Bloody hell, 280 quid...only a tiny bit more than it'll
cost me from Houston. Although the missus will cost me a darn sight
more than that shopping...she's already ordering up more credit cards.

Whoa there! Give me a rewind. <Craig David etc> What's going on here?
NYC for the 6N? Who decided this and what is the thinking behind it? I
would have to let SWMBO go on a shopping trip to pull that one off.

Pablo suggested it a few weeks ago... seemed like a good idea then and
an even better one now.
Shopping trip bribe likely to be necessary at this end too.

GHFAN, any chance you could recommend a few hotels nearby-ish to where
we will be?

Yep, the plan is to go that weekend...Apologies for not getting on
here earlier...
Already been in touch with GHFAN and there is a hotel (Pickwick Arms)
over the road from his pad and, by a strange quirk of fate - quite
close to his local bar !!
We can get a fairly decent rate there for the Thurs/Fri/Sat nights -
works out at $80 (£43) per night.
Flights-wise I can see flights on Expedia for £450 for Glasgow-Newark
direct return (Continental). Pretty good but feckin useless for those
of you nowhere near Glasgow !!
The KLM deal sounds good, espeically with a night in Amsterdam !!!!!!!
All those interested get yourself booked up for flights and let the
fun begin - pity we've got to wait for 10 months :(

Nope, UD is right. I took 35 rugger-buggers there in '98. Have since
been back twice. Can't get back there often enough...
As for footie, we did a straw poll in the office (multi-national) and
decided to support England in the World Cup in their hour of need, or
until they get to the quarters and the game goes to penalties....

Richard, Pablo mentioned, the Pickwick Arms which is an ideal place.
It's on 51st street between 2nd and 3rd Ave's,basically mid town
Manhattan. All I encourage folks to do is make reservations early. St.
Patricks Day on a Saturday will attract hundreds of thousands of
visitors.
The Italy/Ireland game (first game of the day) gets underway at 8.30am
NY time and the St. Patricks parade will get under way on 5th Ave at
about 11am. If we're seated by 8.00/8.00am (I suggest Clancy's on 2nd
Ave between 51st and 52nd street and about 100 steps from the Pickwick
Arms hotel) we'll be fine.
Clancy's do big 'ol breakfasts and have plenty of large screen TV's in
the backroom where I suggest we go. It'll be fun.

Funny how the Jocks are all dead anti-England usually at World Cup time
until this year when - oh, there's a surprise - we actually have a
chance. I guess you're all just used to basking in reflected glory ;-)
My first ticket was delivered last week. Interestingly, I bought one
of the thousands of souvenir magazines doing the rounds in Germany last
week before Rooney was injured. They featured Lampard, Gerrard and
Beckham but no sign of our No. 1 son. I smell a rat. In the keller...

Better to stay up all night - then we can listen to Didge telling us

Cannae wait, big mon.
Better make sure there's some decent Colleens around just in case

I shall be watching it too. I have bought a Brazil top especially for
you! My sons want them too but I can't find any in their size. :O)
I _do_ genuinely hope that Eng do well but I really can't see it
happening. They are not in the same class when it comes to, erm, class
when compared to Brazil.

I was going to point out to UD that he must have some remarkably
tolerant Scots in his office. Around me the sale of English WC
opponent's shirts are hitting record levels.
I suppose I'd like England to do well but not to win. All that 1966
stuff... I just couldn't stand it all again.
Oh and that's 'class when compared WITH Brazil.' You oik.
