"Biarritz captain Benoit August could be banned for two years after
being cited for allegedly gouging Danny Grewcock in the Heineken Cup
clash with Bath.
Although Grewcock played down the incident just before half-time in
Saturday's semi-final, it was reported by citing commissioner John West.
According to rugby's rules, contact with the eyes risks a ban of between
three months and two years.
The date for August's disciplinary hearing was not immediately given.
Biarritz play Munster in the Heineken Cup final at Cardiff's Millennium
Stadium on 20 May."
I saw the incident on replay and it looked pretty horrible. I can't see
him getting away without a ban.

Danny Crewcock should be banned from the game. Any malice in his direction
was in no doubt provoked. I hope Grewcock suffers, he is fsckwit.

While you may be right about Grewcock, my understanding of rugby is
when you can't stand provocation anymore, you just punch the other guy
square in the face, get sin binned for it and laugh with him about the
incident around a beer after the game. Gouging looks like a dangeroux,
sneaky, dumb thing.

Well, here's a famous non sequitur. I suppose Grewcock should also be
cited for attacking Auguste's fingers with his eyeballs. Shame on him!
Actually, I'm only surprised that his reaction was so low key. I'd have
gone after the bastard's head.

Interesting, Rick... So now you are going to claim you *saw* eye gouging
in the RWC semi-final all those years ago and the rest of us missed it?
If only they'd thought to put television cameras at that game!
Cheers,
Ben

Well... fact is, I'll be happy enough if you continue to love just my

Based on the idea that comedy = tragedy + time, does this mean you are
almost over that 1999 loss?

Danny Grewcock for Pope

He has nothing to get over, the RWC is an importance-free knockout
tournament which counts for nothing as far as true Rugby aficionados are
concerned.

You three should get together for a misery-in.
Once again for those hard of thinking, the rugby world cup is a great
tournament and a maginificent festival of rugby. It is important.
What it is not, is the be-all and end-all of rugby. I cannot imagine how
it would be possible to devise a better illustration of this point than
the current England team as a case in point.
