Good Luck Bath [message #982937] Fri, 21 April 2006 16:11

Biarritz: Brusque; Gobelet, Bidabe, Traille, Bobo; Peyrelongue,
Yachvili; Balan, August (capt), Johnston; Thion, Couzinet; Betsen,
Dusautoir, Harinordoquy.
Replacements: Noirot, Lecouls, Olibeau, Carizza, Dupuy, Martin
Aramburu, Dambielle.

Bath: Stephenson; Higgins, Crockett, Barkley, Bory; Malone, Walshe;
Filise, Mears, Bell, Borthwick (capt), Grewcock, Beattie, Lipman,
Feaunati.
Replacements: Dixon, Flatman, Delve, Short, Williams, Finau, Fuimaono.

I know everyone has written them off, but you never know with this Bath
side in the cup. Barkley is back at 12 and they've picked Stephenson
over Maddock, so looks like attack is the plan - I just hope Malone
doesn't forget. If he just plays his usual territory game (a la
England) then Bath will get stuffed. The games they've won this year
have come from more of a 'have a go' style, and that's what Ashton is
promising.

I for one say "cmon Baaaaaaaaaath" - help me wipe the smile off the
bookies face

Should be good eh?
I think they'll miss Stevens in the last 1/4, that could cost....
If Ashton pulls this off with his style written all over it, then the
RFU have to give him a shot of backs coach, if only on a part-time basis.
And if Barkley makes a few good breaks and puts a winger away, then
surely he's good to go to Oz. If he can nip past a loitering BRF and
ship one out to Tait, then onto Varndell, we're laughing....

Well, Biarritz were nothing to write home about in their win over Sale.
Looked very beatable to me, by any team with some ambition and width.

Well, half time and already one take out/trip from Bentsen and a blatant
eye gouging from August. I think he is cited and gone for sure. And now
we are getting the anticipatd injury/rest period every two minutes.
Weather indescribable, Biarritz just stringer and better organized.
Can't see anything but a French win.

Well, it looks like they pissed that away through ill discipline.
haven't seen the match yet, but the blow by blow text on the BBC site is
telling reading.
What a waste...

Malone is a good 10 in the Connolly mould if you just want to play
territory all day long, but his limitations in any other type of game
were shown today. Poor discipline after much French antagonism and lack
of control by the ref cost dearly.
