Booz Allen Classic

June 22nd- 25th

TPC Avenel Potomac, Maryland

Live on XM 146/USA/ABC

Purse: $5,000,000

Last Champion: Sergio Garcia

The first Tournament was held in 1968 at Pleasant Valley Country Club in
Sutton, MA, was won by Arnold Palmer. From 1969 to 1979 the Tournament was
played at Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte, NC. The Tournament
relocated to the Washington, D.C., area where it has split time between
Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, MD (1980-86, 2005) and the
Tournament Players Club (TPC) at Avenel in Potomac, MD (1987-2004, 2006).

Four golfers have captured the Tournament title more than once since the
Tournament's inception in 1968: Tom Weiskopf (1971, '73 & '77); Craig
Stadler ('81 & '82); Greg Norman ('84 & '86); and Bill Glasson ('85 & '92).

Twelve PGA TOUR professionals captured their first TOUR victory at the
Tournament, including Bob Menne (1974), Joe Inman (1976), Fred Couples
(1983), Greg Norman (1984), Bill Glasson (1985), Tom Byrum (1989), Billy
Andrade (1991), Grant Waite (1993), Steve Stricker (1996), Rich Beem (1999),
Tom Scherrer (2000) and Frank Lickliter (2001).

Sergio Garcia felt haunted by what he called the "Wachovia ghost" when he
missed the green on the par-3 18th hole at the Booz Allen Classic.

"I could see the guy just flying around, saying 'Oooh-oooh, what's going
on?"' Garcia said.

Garcia did not win the Wachovia Championship the previous month when he held
a six-stroke lead, but the spirits were kinder to him against all Sportsbook
odds in the Booz Allen Classic. He captured his sixth career PGA TOUR title,
his finishing bogey holding up after closest rival Adam Scott's hard-luck
shot hit the water at No. 17.

"I guess it turned out right this time," Garcia said with a big sigh. "It's
not the way I like to finish, but a win is a win."

The 25-year-old Spaniard shot a 6-under 65 to finish with a 14-under 270
total, two strokes ahead of Davis Love III (66), Ben Crane (67) and 2004
winner Scott (68). Garcia led by as many as four strokes after a spectacular
front-nine 30, emerging from a pack of contenders in the final tournament
before the U.S. Open.
