That's almost how I imagined him. The Freddy glove seems more you
though. If his hand was made up of brightly coloured paint brushes
you'd have nailed it.

Clever idea, Dat. Like a Fist of Flouro. I may have to give that a shot.
Nice to actually have someone get into the spirit of the idea, softens my view
that this place is a cold, uncaring void. But the center holds firm.

Crossed wires a bit there, Dat. I don't mean kudos, backslaps and gratuitous
handjobs, those are nice n'all and I usually carve the respondee's name on a
slab of granite I keep closeby for that very purpose, I meant more along the
lines of actual teamwork. Most of the shit I do gets treated like it's a direct
free kick and there is no need to charge in for rebounds off the post or a
fumbled catch.
Gotta run, my old man is staying with me while we work on Broth No.02 and I've
been keeping Pensioner's hours, he fucking acts like if he's not out the door
and on the road before 8am the Grim Reaper will crush his heart. He knows from
past form I am definitely not a morning person yet he still tries to be GOOD
MORNING GOOD MORNING every fucking morning and I fucking can't stand it.
Here goes another 10 hour shift of having him forget to tell me to put on some
earmuffs before he flicks the switch on his ear-splitting powersaw. I lose 1.2
ounces of blood from my orifices each time that happens.

Yeah, it's all well and good saying that, but nearly everything you ever do
along those lines just flies straight into the top-corner anyway. I've seen
it a million times, the best that any of us can ever hope to achieve is one
of those exhuberant 'follow up' second net-bulging, but it's a bit redundant
as the keeper's on the floor with his head in his hands by that point and
the defence are all crowded round the ref saying you took it too quickly or
shouldn't have been awarded it or something while you stand there cooly,
chest justifiably puffed, admiring your own handiwork.
Or, as it turns out, standing there getting a bit upset about the fact that
we always stop playing for a few seconds when you score.
I think all that Dat was maybe trying to say, and if so I agree, was that
the best any of us can manage is to run over and congratulate you. What
exactly else would you like?
A goal's a goal, regardless of intent.

So, not that he's the most selfish striker this froup has ever seen
then?
I wouldn't mind so much, but he's not really a striker, is he? It's
like the guy who drives that little land tug wot pushes the planes out
onto the runway pretending he's a pilot at the nightclub to impress
the chicks.

Comes with the territory. You're the team captain and everyone expects
you to be the right hand of Poleson on the park. There's a bit of the
attitude that once you have the ball we can all relax creeping in.
It's actually beginning to change the face of usenet football as we
know it. Once upon a time the name of the game was scoring important
goals for the XI. These days it seems more about getting the ball to
Cypher, or preventing it if you happen to be on the side of evil.
I don't doubt that there are those waiting in the wings for you to
fuck up though, and staying clear means they won't risk getting
splashed. Keep your enemies closer, that's all I'm saying.
