Axelrod to sue Davis and his wife [message #808815] Fri, 20 January 2006 15:59

The NBA suspended Davis five games without pay -- $845,122 of his $13.86
million salary -- for trying to intercede in an apparent altercation between
his wife, Kendra, and fans sitting behind her during a timeout with 1:04
left in overtime of the Bulls' 106-104 victory.

Davis and his wife also face the threat of civil lawsuits by Michael
Axelrod, 22, the fan whom Kendra Davis initially confronted.

Axelrod -- whose father, David, is a prominent Democratic political
consultant in Chicago and owns the season tickets his son used Wednesday --
said Kendra Davis tried to scratch him after he protested a referee's call.
Axelrod said he never laid a hand on Kendra Davis.

Axelrod said he plans to sue Davis and his wife -- and possibly the NBA and
the United Center -- for more than $1 million. His attorney, Jay Deratany,
said he might file a slander suit against Davis and a battery suit against
Davis' wife as early as today.

Dang, why stop there? I'd throw in the City of Chicago on the police
department, they've got lots of money I hear, and they negligently failed to
prevent this tragedy. Maybe the private security firm of the United Center?
Probably want to go after the referees as well, they made the call that he
was compelled to protest, and I think they have a lot of money as well.

I think he should also sue the Democratic Party as obviously their influence
upon him via his father has caused him unreasonable emotional distress that
no human being should have to suffer.

Isn't this just the kind of intelligent response that
s_knight8's blanket posts engender? Thanks for
hipping us to all that here in the Bulls ng s_knight8,
we hadn't really heard much about it.

Actually, the 1 million was appearently exagerrated by the media (big
surprize), and now he is targeting a n apology, a retraction on the
statement that he was drunk and assaulted Davis's wfe, and a $2K
donation to a charity for the prevention of violence towards women.

Actually, I think I believe the fan. There's 2 reasons why a fan would
sue an NBA player:

1. Greed.
2. He truly was wronged.

According to the fan, he didn't do anything except cheer/boo. It was
Kendra Davis who initiated the confrontation and physically touched
him. If that's what really happened, I would be pretty upset too if
someone slandered me on national TV and said that I was drunk and
physically assaulted his wife.

Now the fan is saying that he'll drop the lawsuit if David retracts his
comments and apologizes. If he was just making the story up and just
wanted to get some money, why would he do that?

This isn't the first time Kendra lost her cool though. She's got rage
issue. Maybe she likes the pat on the back she gets from her friends
everytime she goes on a tirade.

Now this is the sort of fresh-eyed new perspective from an outsider
that makes sknight8's crossposts so valuable.

My friend, I'd like to introduce you to a group of Americans
just like you, concerned about matters like immigration,
inner-city crime and the millenial scheme by the Choos to
enslave the Gentile species.

I think this was the push all along and the lawsuit was a kneejerk
reaction. From what I read and reports elsewhere, Antonio's wife has a
history and that some players (and writers who have apparently met the
allegedly self absorbed woman) said that Antonio was jumping into the
stands to protect the safety of the fan from his wife! I thought that
was pretty funny...
