There are 15 of us going to Spain for a 4 day tour at the end of the month.
As well as the usual "games" individual winner etc, we need a few ideas to
keep the interest going on a daily basis, other than teheusual longest drive
nearest the pin etc.
We are thinking of drawing blind partners on one day, but is there anything
else we could do?
The ideas need to be easy to administrate and not too complicated for the
golfers to understand, we may have the odd drink or two!
Handicaps in the 5 to 22 range
Thanks
Andy

In addition to the normal Stableford scores:
keep a note of the number of strokes played from the putting surface at each
hole.
Prize for the competitor who has the lowest total.
On a course with a lot of water, keep note of the number of balls
competitors play into water hazards.
Award a suitable booby prize for the highest total
Golden ball: assuming competitors are in groups of 3. Have an additional
team prize. At each hole, the score of one designated member of the team in
turn, counts to a team score as well as his individual score.
e.g. player A's score at the 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th and 16th holes
player B's score at the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th, 14th 17th holes
player C's score at the 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th and 18th holes
Try the Modified Stableford Format: Albatross = 8pts; Eagle = 5pts; Birdie
=2 pts, par = 0pts; bogey = -1pt; double bogey or worse = -3pts

You may try one of the following :
(partly from the German book "Golf Games")
4BBB + aggregate
------------------------
2x2 in a flight. One team point for the best ball plus one point for the
best sum of scores per hole.
4BBB + worst ball
------------------------
2x2 in a flight. One team point for the best ball plus one point for not
making the worst score per hole.
The Portugesian one club game
------------------------------------------
All players in a flight team together, each chosing only one club,
different from the others. Tightening extra: One must take the putter.
Play in the same sequence during the whole game, i.e. drive with the putter
or putt with the driver if it's your turn.
Shanghai Greensome
-----------------------------
2x2 in a flight. Everybody drives, but the opposite party choses the ball.
Keep cool: Revenge must be served chilled.
Shanghai scramble
---------------------------
2x2 in a flight. Play a scramble in pairs, and the opposite party choses
every ball.
I just invented that game - not sure if it works for the group's spirit.
Yet another invention for the heavy addicts:
Carlsberg (1) skin
-------------------
Play a skins game, and the player winning a skin has to empty a can on the
spot.
My advice: Do not play with carry-over.
(1) enter your favourite beer brand
If you want some variety during one round, play six-six-six (two variants):
1) 4 in a flight. Chose a game for partners (e.g. Greensome or scramble)
for the whole round.
After each 6 holes, the player pairings are changed. Thus, each player
plays with each other during the round. Each player individually collects
the scores of the teams he joins.
2) 4 in a flight. Chose pairs for the whole round.
Chose three games, e.g. Greensome, 4BBB, foursome
(scramble is possible, too)
Change the game after each 6 holes and collect the scores.
Ciao,
Paul
