Sulking. [message #782866] Thu, 29 December 2005 12:34

Anyway, you all know how this goes?

I had two organised golf days to play in. One a club match (I know, in the
winter!) a society against the club. ALways a nice fixture, gets you out of
the house mid Christmas/New Year. The other was a society at a course which
never has winter greens, lovely.

So I booked the three days off between Christmas and New Year, entered for
both days.

On Boxing Day six of us agreed to meet up at 10.am for a 10 hole 3 club +
putter competition. The course was in great condition. We played from the
match tees. I had 19 points in 10 holes with a driver, six iron, wedge and
putter. My game was back! The next day (Tuesday) was the club match. I was
ready!

Hello snow.

Not enough snow to be entertaining, mind, just enough to close the course.
Went to the pub.

Hello Inn Keeper. I reckon the society day is cancelled then?

Grrrrr.

A week and a half off work. OK, its winter, but how's your Donald, eh?

Sat - 18 holes
Sun - religous spending spree got in the way
Mon - 10 holes 3 clubs Woo HOO! 19 points
Tue - Club match cancelled by an inch of snow
Wed - Society cancelled by the same inch of snow and freezing conditions
Thu - Bored. domestic bliss is begining to crack..................
Fri - Any ideas what to do??????
Sat - Rain and sleet predicted by weather people. At least the snow will
have gone
Sun - Hangover.
Mon - Golf??????
Tue - Sunshine and light winds. And Work.

We did go to see the new King Kong film yesterday. Great. Loved it. My kind
of film. But got stuck in the carpark on the way out. Only a slight incline,
but slick with ice. whizzzzz went the wheels. Thanks to the nice people who
gave us a push!

Roll on Spring and the next set of rainy bank holidays............

I feel a move to Australia coming on.

Happy Christmas!

You'd hate it! ...'Tis a bit hot here right now (Melbourne)......recent
weather for three or four days in a row....typically 37°C (98.6°F)tops,
'bout 17°C (62.6°F) at night, fresh sea breeze in the evening to keep
the mozzies and flies away.

Played golf Wednesday.....slightly sunburnt now, lush (slow) greens (to
preserve the grass), no water on fairways (to preserve water
storages)....just enough for me to lose 4 (Pro V1) balls in!

Serious fire danger around the countryside...and just in case you're
interested... official forecast follows:- (to convert temperatures to
more familiar figures...simply double what you see, subtract ten
percent, then add 32, gives you °F!)

I see the revised forecast for Melbourne tomorrow (Saturday) is now 42C
(108F).

This might the first time our club competition is cancelled under the
VGA's heat policy.

Why...thankyou....see, you can learn something here after all!

Notwithstanding the fact that, the older and more experienced I get, the
less I seem to know! I have a grandson who thinks he knows more than
me......

I took note from the World's major city forecasts, as broadcast on our
ethnic TV gem, SBS channel......that Melbourne will be the hottest city
on the planet today..!!!

Peter,

Even less for the old brain to accept. Essential at my age.

Double the figure and add 30!

Done that all my life.
