Powakaddy Batteries [message #782858] Sun, 25 December 2005 18:39

Hello People

I've noticed that Powakaddy do two sizes of battery, 18 & 36 holes, the
former being 26Ah. I at the moment have an inferior trolley with a 20Ah
battery as a power source which easily covers 18 holes plus. Not being
particularly electrically minded can any one out there confirm or deny that
the Powakaddy 18 hole battery can cover, without a problem 27 holes when
fully charged (as that's about the most I play over a day).

Mark.

It all depends on the load the trolley has to carry, the terrain, the length
of time in use and, of course, the condition of the battery. 18 holes on a
warm day on a flat dry course is the ideal situation. As a rule of thumb
though the more you exceed the recommendations of the manufacturer, the less
the useful life of the battery as lead acid batteries deteriorate in use due
to sulphation of the plates.

Hope this helps

John

Not sure if it will help, but:
I have a Powakaddy Robocaddy - remote controlled contraption.
It has the larger "36 hole" battery as standard as it has TWO motors - one
on each wheel to allow the remote steering.
It comfortably does 27 holes without re-charge, and, as I say, that is
driving two motors, so i would predict that the smaller battery would
comfortably do 27 holes whilst driving a single motor.

Bit late I know, but I have a Powakaddy all terrain model, and the 18 hole
battery is just about dead over 18 holes in the winter, some times the last
hole is done with no power at all. So it is entirely due to the resistance
set up by the course conditions that dictate how long the battery will last.
In the summer you should be fine, in the winter go for the larger version.

Mark,

John Mathis's answer is one to take notice of. I can only add that the
greater the Ampere-Hours of the battery the more "strong" it will be.
