Extracts from Falkirk FC match report....
There were signs of trouble ahead when the Turkish side arrived at the
ground fifteen minutes after the allotted kick-off time. Regrettably
their body language suggested they were not entirely happy about
playing the game............
........Twaddle caught Tjikuzu in the midriff and the midfielder
reacted angrily to the challenge. From the free-kick all hell broke
loose. As the players positioned themselves in the box, Victoria Rav
appeared to head butt Darren Barr and players piled in en masse to
make the situation worse. Astonishingly, the referee walked off the
pitch and the players were in the dark as to whether it had been
abandoned.....
....Five minutes later he re-emerged and the game continued with no
yellow or red cards shown...
Half-Time : Rizespor 1 Falkirk 0
The half restarted with McStay on for Latapy and within minutes a
streaker interrupted play before settling himself behind the Turkish
goal. No sooner had he done that than Falkirk equalised. The trialist
midfielder powered into the box and evaded two tackles before rolling
his shot wide of Atilla Koca for a superb goal.
What happened next was like something out of a comedy film. The
streaker reappeared to celebrate the strike and Koca took offence,
launching the ball at him. The goalkeeper and team-mates then chased
the supporter to the sidelines and other fans became involved at the
side of the pitch. It was all too much for the Referee who simply
walked off and abandoned the game.
