I call it FIFA corruption. This sets one hell of a precedent. I am
waiting for clubs to take matters to court in the next round.
This all comes down to one man though. Blatter. The con fo world
football needs to be eliminated for the good of the game.

That's what this is about, to make Zidane look like the victim so it doesn't
tarnish his career.
Laughable Stupidity.

Big Fucking Deal!
He wasn't racist, so what was the problem?
He called his sister a whore?
LOL! Hardly an insult for a headbutt.

I'd like to know what would have been the penalty if Materazzi hitted
Zidane. I'm sure he would have gotten at least 8 matches, and Zidane
would have been sanctified.
It's a shame.

No, but I wouldn't headbutt someone for it.

it's obvious that the poster meant "what if the role of the two players
was completely
reversed". Hint: Zidane says bad words, Materazzi headbutts. What do
you think
the punishments would have been?
[My guess: Materazzi 6-months out, Zidane unpunished.]
While you're at it, was De Rossi's fault (5 days suspension) worse
than
Zidane's (3 days fake suspension)?
let's see how honest Zidane's lovers can be.

What evidence do you have that they use it more than any other team,
given that we can't hear and follow what goes on off the ball ?
And how do you see this being enforced ?
I mean, I am in agreement that rules already exist saying that foul,
abusive and insulting language can be penalized with a red card, and I
would have no trouble if refs started to take that more seriously.
It is quite clear to me that players are using words they shouldn't be,
even in addressing the refs.
But the problem is that refs can't penalise what they can't hear (or
understand, as there can also be a language issue). And trying to do
the enforcement after games by interrogating witnesses, none of whom
will be unbiased, just doesn't make sense to me.
Also where do you draw the line as to what is acceptable ? Do you make
up a list analogous to George Carlin's sketch "Seven words you cannot
say on TV" (an old sketch - I have heard every one of them on TV since
then) ? Can you call an opponent a Swine ? a Pig ? A wanker ? A
reprobate ? A cad ? A bastard ? As the Guardian article suggests,
FIFA have opened a giant can of worms with this.
Finally the implication that Materazzi "must have said something really
bad, because Zidane reacted" is spurious, since Zidane has a history of
indiscipline, and we'll never know exactly what was said.
And as I have said before , what about all other incidences of
provocation ? Do we now go back and suspend Van Bommel "a character
every bit as unsavoury as Materazzi on the pitch" for whatever he said
to Figo ? How about van der Saar for his confrontation with Ortega in
1998 (also a head butt incident, and not as forceful as Zidane's) ?

That is an interesting question. For example, to maintain consistency,
shouldn't players and coaches who do the international hand signal for
diving be given suspensions? The FIFA laws cover gestures just as well
as language and surely alledging that an athlete cheated is insulting.
Why is this never punished? Would it be punished if the player accused
of cheating headbutted his accuser?

No way. The scandal is what happened from 1994 on. Nowadays we're starting
to have some waste disposed.. and we're are the full-deserved Champions
despite FIFA: all things to be proud of.
What happened to Zidane, the ashaming punishment of Materazzi or Blatter
avoiding to reward Italy are symptoms of hard teeth-grinding for our
victory, which makes its taste even sweeter.

Is it normal to headbutt in the French league?
I thought actions like that were reserved to thugs?

Since I cannot seem to discourage you from that, I give up. Go ahead.
What I had in mind was, however, simply *not* protecting and providing
amnesty to every criminal who plays the victim of society or regime
card.

In the part you snipped, affory described the cheating as a scandal:
"The scandal is what happened from 1994 on. Nowadays we're starting to
have some waste disposed.." That's not a defense of cheating; it's the
reasonable point that what is currently happening in Serie A is that
the cheaters are being punished.

Just hope you're never the victim........but if you want to be the criminal
you'll be ok

No. It is punished. It is punished by FIFA. Zidane was punished, as
expected. Everything is normal... But apprently, cheating is perfectly
normal in serie A...

Acknowledging that no country is perfect and that there's always room
for improvement is better.

I don't know.
But I bet you didn't know that deserving to lose the Championship with us
(while your national glory shows up to the whole world how fake and rough he
is, ending his career consistently) would hurt so much.
